Indian weddings are a vibrant celebration and as a couple, you will want to make sure your celebration is captured in the best way possible. This will allow you to remember the event forever and relive those memories with the people who celebrated with you as well as those who couldn’t be there.

Weddings are exciting for photographers because there is so much going on and sometimes the most important parts to you can be missed if the photographer isn’t clear on what the day involves.

Understanding Indian Weddings
Every wedding is different and so wedding photographers are usually able to adapt to your requirements. However, this is often within the understanding of traditional Western weddings. If you choose a photographer who doesn’t have a genuine understanding of Indian weddings then you might find they don’t meet your needs.

Indian weddings also differ depending on what style of wedding is planned and your photographer should have an awareness of this. Whether you are having a Hindu, Punjabi or Islamic wedding, or a mixture of cultures, you want to make sure your photographer understands the significance.

Weddings Aren’t Just About the Day
In the UK the focus of weddings is usually on the wedding day itself. In Indian cultures a wedding is more of an event than a day, and will often last for several days. As an Indian wedding photographer, I understand that you will want to capture every important aspect of celebration and will work with you to create a schedule of what moments you would like to be photographed.

It might be that you have planned dedicated ceremonies leading up to the main day that include henna tattoos being drawn or dances being performed as part of your celebration. Just because these don’t happen during the actual ceremony doesn’t mean they are any less important.

Different Aspects Have Different Meanings
For some cultures the art of getting dressed and decorated ready for the wedding ceremony is a vital aspect of the marriage. Whilst photographs of brides getting ready are more common in the UK now, it is important for a photographer to understand the significance this might have for you.

Family roles can also be different in different cultures and there might be certain members of the family who expect to have specific photographs taken with the couple or each other. This might seem unusual to a photographer who doesn’t specialise in Indian wedding photography.

Specialist Indian Photography Design by You
Even though I specialise in Indian wedding photography and understand the possible cultural differences, I still ensure that every wedding photography package is unique. I always take time to spend with the couple and any members of the family to plan out how your celebration will look and which parts are the most important.
